This upcoming week marks a significant celebration and opportunity for our church in the community, and specifically our children in the community. This week we will be celebrating with hundreds of kids through our Vacation Bible School (VBS). Every morning this week, Monday-Friday, from 9 AM until noon, we will have dozens of servants, including adult and teen volunteers, working with hundreds of children age 3 (potty-trained) through 4th grade.
This year’s theme is: “Shipwrecked: Rescued By Jesus.”
Vacation Bible School has become one of the most significant ministry opportunities that First Church shares in—not just for our children’s ministry but for the church as a whole because of the scope of its impact and how many people are involved in it.
Would you please be praying this week that the hearts of the children (and the adults helping for that matter!) would be open in fresh and new ways to the love of Jesus and that they would welcome Jesus into their lives?
Also, would you be on the lookout next Sunday in our 9:30 AM worship for families connected with Vacation Bible School and be sure to welcome them?
Angie Tobias, our Children’s Ministry Director, shares this about our VBS this year:
It is a joy to experience the energy and excitement of VBS! The Holy Spirit is alive and present in the hearts of the kids, teen helpers, and volunteers. God is going to change lives in a mighty way throughout the week, and we get to be along for the ride. Pray as we learn from Jesus how to love others, focus on God, and receive the Salvation that comes from Him!
Again, please be praying for Angie, all of our servant volunteers, and especially the children this week to experience Transformation in Christ–Changing Lives Inside and Out. We trust it will be a week to remember.
