Children’s Ministries

Here at First Church, children are a priority. We host many opportunities for children to play, connect with others, and learn about Jesus. All volunteers who help with children’s ministries have their Safe Sanctuaries Clearances.

Children are encouraged to follow along to the guide and videos for an age-friendly Bible lesson.

July 19 – The Widow’s Offering (Mark 12:38-44)

Jesus teaches and warns of religious leaders who do not do as they should.  Jesus then observes how people gave offering in the temple treasury.  He saw a widow give a small offering (2 small copper coins worth only a few cents).  Jesus told his disciples that the widow gave generously because she gave all that she had.

July 26 – Zechariah (Luke 1:68-79)

Elizabeth and Zechariah wanted to have a child but for many long years they were unable.  After their son was born, Zechariah was still unable to speak because of his disbelief.  When Elizabeth stated the baby will be called John, Zechariah wrote down that his name was to be John (later know as John the Baptist ).  Zechariah could speak and was filled with the Holy Spirit.  He praise God!

Beginning July 3, we are starting a new weekly video series called Love Your Neighbors.  It will be shared on the First Church Children’s Ministry Facebook Page. Each video offers conversation about topics arising in our culture today and opportunities to put your faith into action. We will be using Scripture to help us understand what it means to live out the commandment that Jesus taught us in Mark 12:31. Be on the lookout for new videos every Friday! You can also find the whole series here.

STEM-B-U is a hands-on bible lesson using STEM activities that kids 5th grade and younger and volunteers do together via ZOOM and ties in a Bible (B) Understanding (U). If you have any questions or would like the ZOOM link, please contact Angie Tobias at [email protected].

This is a resource for families with children and students at home.  It utilizes streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney + to join families together watching a movie and then provides insight into biblical truths that can be learned from the story.  You may find all the PDFs for each week available below.  There are discussion questions for both children and students, and an action step to accompany the weekly focus.  Our hope is to equip parents to continue discipling their own children in a way that is relevant and engaging.

We have several opportunities for children’s ministries during the 9:30 and 11 AM services. Adults need to sign kids in and out of ministry.
